Mercury Free Fillings

Dr. Schisler has been safely removing mercury from teeth for 20 years and is a member of IAOMT (International Association of Mercury Toxicity). He works with Colleen ,a restorative hygienist who has 25 years experience in placing mercury free restorations. She also is a teaching professor ,trained in the placement of mercury free fillings.

When placing a porcelain restoration, less preparation is needed than the traditional drilling for mercury fillings. This is because the porcelain adheres to the tooth, unlike the mercury that can split the tooth.

Since mercury is a harmful substance, the patient's safety is our concern. We use a variety of procedures during mercury removal. A rubber dam is set in place so that no debris can enter the patient's mouth. Each operatory is equipped with a NEGATIVE IONIZER that traps any mercury vapor inside a HEPA filter. An alternate air source (oxygen ) is also used so that no mercury vapor is breathed by the patient. All recovered mercury is then removed from wastewater to avoid environmental contamination.
