At Hopedale Dental Care we are pleased to offer an Advanced Periodontal Therapy (APT) program. These services were previously carried out by a periodontist, and are now available within our office.
Treatment methods will depend on the severity and type of periodontal disease a client has. APT is a non-surgical approach to resolving periodontal disease. Advanced equipment including irrigation systems will be used to smooth the root surfaces commonly know as periodontal debridement. In this process bacterial plaque and calculus (tartar) will be removed from the tooth surface. In most cases periodontal pockets are reduced or even eliminated, reducing the need for periodontal surgery.
Following APT, the patient and their Dental Hygienist will develop a suitable recare plan possibly including mouthrinse, and hydromagnetic home irrigation systems.
